Pilanesberg
National Park
Kids on Safari
to Pilanesberg National Park
Pretoria 3h15 am - 3 December 2003: Alan 10, Jade 6 and Millie 4 can't wait to get to the park!
With the above trip we did a 3 day.
Day 1 we spend mostly game viewing as planned.
Day 2 we took a break after breakfast at 10 am
for 2 hours. 1 of us then stayed with 2 kids at the pool till 5pm while
the other took the grown ups on a drive.
Day 3 we did a morning drive, checked out from
Bakgatla and had breakfast at 10am, drove though the park to Sun City to
arrive at 11h45. Went to the Valley of Waves where the kids had a ball
till 4 pm, then back to game viewing till 7pm, arriving back in Pretoria
at 9pm.
In the industry very few operators cater for safaris for children. We recommend 2 days minimum but will of course go for 1 day. Their attention span depends on their age so there will normally be 2 of us in case you need a break. They love the camps, swimming pools and of course Sun City. The no malaria factor is a great advantage as well is the short distance to Pretoria and Johannesburg. I would also recommend a visit to the cheetah research centre at De Wildt as well as Lesedi Cultural Village - this will fill another day.
